‘Share the love’ – kids read to kittens from El Paso Animal Services

EL PASO, Texas — Your children could read to kittens as part of a unique program about sharing love.

Petco Love is on a mission to spread love and kindness. To do this, they partnered with 50 animal shelters across the country, including El Paso Animal Services.

At the first event, children received a free copy of a new book “What am I going to do with my love today?” by Emmy Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth. They also took a safety course on bite prevention and were able to read the book to the shelter‘s kittens.

“This is just one of the many ways we try to expand our education and awareness program,” said Michelle Anderson, spokeswoman for El Paso Animal Services.

Not only does this provide a unique opportunity for the people of El Paso, but it also prepares the kittens for their future.

“Get them used to being around people and getting lots of attention and love so they’ll make them more adoptable,” Anderson said.

If you missed the first weekend of fur, fun and friendship, don’t worry, El Paso Animal Services will be hosting more. The kitty book club ranges from ages 8 to 13. Click here to register.

You can also share the love by donating, volunteering, or adopting with the shelter.
