Killeen Animal Shelter Holds Free Adoption Days | KWKT

KILLEEN, Texas – Animal shelters are feeling the pressure as many are at full capacity or overcapacity.

The Killeen Animal Shelter has nearly 200 animals over their limit as they try to find them a home. To help with this plan, the shelter will organize free adoption days this Saturday and Sunday, November 13 and 14, to find permanent homes for their residents.

All animals available for adoption will be vaccinated, secured and have an electronic chip.

If you’re not sure you’re ready to fully adopt an animal, here’s what the manager told FOX 44 about the programs they have for those who care about animals but can’t. – not yet at the adoption stage.

“Sometimes if you come in and want a clean walk the dogs, you know, socialize the kittens?” It’s a beginning. You can get to know this animal regardless of its breed. And if you end up loving this animal, you can do that, make it a foster family, maybe even a foster family for an adobe program. It all depends on the animal. And if it’s someone you’re looking for, if it’s too young to be adopted early on, because we need to get them spayed first, ”says Jessica Dunagan, director of animal services at Killeen.

The shelter will be open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., so check it out and you may find your new FUR-ever friend.
