Animal shelter distributes thousands of pounds of pet food and supplies

Rancho Costal Humane Society is set to distribute 30 pallets of pet food and supplies that arrived Thursday at the Encinitas-based nonprofit at 389 Requeza Street. Food and supplies will be distributed to qualified animal rescue groups starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 2. .
Chewy.com wet and dry cat and dog food, cat litter and other pet products are donated through the Rescue Bank operated by Greater Good Charities, a non-profit organization that supports rescue groups and animal rehabilitation by providing services and supplies.

Most pallets come packed with dog and cat food and litter and there is no cost for rescues. “We’ve been hosting these giveaways every month for over a year. Thanks to our donors and friends, Rancho Coastal Humane Society will be paying shipping costs again, ”said Judi Sanzo, President of the Rancho Costal Humane Society. The food will be distributed to 501 (c) (3) non-profit pet rescue groups.

In late August, the association distributed nearly 20,000 pounds of food and pet supplies to nonprofit rescues from the San Diego area and neighboring counties to Los Angeles.

The nonprofit shelter distributes food and supplies to nonprofit rescues about once a month and operates a community pet food bank from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturdays at 389 Requeza Street in Encinitas.
