Animal Services Council to Meet Following New Shelter Opening

Guilford County is opening its brand new animal shelter, which comes with new optimism, new practices and a better, cleaner environment for the county’s animals.

If you’d like to give advice to the Guilford County Animal Services Advisory Board at this critical juncture in the county’s animal care history, you will soon have your chance.

The advisory board has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday, November 17 at 5:30 pm in the Blue Room on the first floor of the Old Guilford County Courthouse at 301 W. Market St. in downtown Greensboro.

Due to the recent success in adopting animals before the move, the old shelter – located at 4525 W. Wendover Ave. – will be open to the public on Wednesday October 20, Thursday October 21 and Friday October 22 before the stop for the big move the week of Monday October 25.

No need for an appointment to see the animals to be adopted on these three days from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The shelter will close its doors from October 25 to 31 to change sites and will reopen services at the new location at the beginning of November.

The Animal Services Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, November 17 will be the board’s first meeting with the opening of the new shelter. Unlike many county council and commission meetings held over the past seven months, citizens will have the opportunity to participate in person.
