“A Cause for Paws” fundraiser to benefit Grimes County’s premier animal shelter happening this weekend – Willy 1550 & 98.7

Grimes County’s first animal shelter is just months away from coming to fruition.

Kristin Carrell of the Animal Shelter Board of Directors stopped by to talk about our resort’s recently approved floor plans.

“We have raised funds, substantially all the funds we need to construct the building. We have chosen the site, it will be on county land, behind the new Justice Center. Very recently, we contracted with a contractor to build the facility,” Carrell said. “We’re also having another fundraiser to give us that last little push we need.”

This latest push will come in the form of a fundraiser they’re hosting this Saturday, called ‘A Paw Cause’.

“We’ll have a great BBQ dinner, drinks will be served by Lara’s bartender, Derek Spence and his people will be there…we’ll have a live auction and then lots of long-serving community supporters. for that. It will be nice to have everyone together, and we will be there to answer any questions you may have. Many people still wonder who we are and where we are going. So whenever we can answer it, we want it,” Carrell said.

This fundraiser for the new animal shelter is taking place Saturday, March 26 at the Grimes County Fairgrounds. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m.
